Torontoist on Anonymous flash raids

Monday, June 30th, 2008

Torontoist reports:

With greater dialogue, Project Chanology hopes to defuse some of the arguably propagandist rhetoric leveled against them by Scientology’s escalating PR efforts. “If you go in there right now,” said another Anon, pointing to the org’s rarely-open door, “they have a stack of flyers on their desks saying we are evil, evil people. They’ve been on Bloor walking up and down [the street] with them.” Anons, meanwhile, have reduced the scale of their demonstrations lately—with the exception of yesterday’s presence at Pride [PDF]—to more effectively engage the public. Sidewalk drawings state the names of those allegedly victimized by Fair Game practices, while an arrow-shaped sign points into the org’s lobby with a monosyllabic message: “CULT.”

An hour later, we followed up on that earlier request for an interview. As staff members we’d talked to had since changed shifts, a gentleman in a red Dianetics shirt—reportedly a member of the local org’s Office of Special Affairs—welcomed us. After our introduction, a knowing expression flashed across the man’s face, and we were guided back toward the entrance.

“Have a nice day,” he said, holding the door. Then he locked it in our faces.

Stu Wyatt arrested

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

Via Enturbulation, anonymous1312 posts:

Stu was arrested at home this morning for assulting Sandra on June 3rd I have been told by his flat mate. As is typical in such situations we have not been able to contact him and the police will not tell us what is happening or when he will get out.

We believe we know how the assult charge arose however we do not wish to give anything away at this stage.

They have seized all of his video equipment and tapes etc.

To my knowledge this is the first example of hard fairgaming since the protests began in Feb, a testiment to just how much of thorn in Co$’s side Stu was becoming. I would expect Stu would want the protests to go on without him.

Anyone who was in contact with Stu related to either this weekend or this evening (timing eh?) please PM me for updates and I will try to take up any slack. Unfortunately I will not be able to respond to PMs until after 6pm.

I can also be reached on the cult watch number: 0785-3016084.

I appreciate their may be some well wishers. By the time I will be able to pass on your wishes Stu will be back with us. I have no further information at this time.

Plymouth and other anons who were intending to come this weekend, please make an extra effort, we cannot be seen to back off. Rather we need to be extra vigilant with respect to the law and ensure we do not put a foot wrong.

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ANY THREATENING CALLS TO THE ORG. Stu would not want this as he saw them as victims too.

Tom Cruise’s lawyer

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

It starts with Dr. Drew telling Playboy Magazine that Tom Cruise is in a cult.  Gawker picks up the rest:

Cruise’s high-powered attorney, Bert Fields, a frequent client of convicted wiretapper and racketeer Anthony Pellicano, called Pinsky an “unqualified television performer who is obviously just looking for notoriety,” adding, “The last time we heard garbage like this was from Joseph Goebbels.”

Way to go.  I wonder when Dr. Drew’s page on RFW will go up.

Fair Game article in Pravda

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

Robert (Son of Boris) Korczak wrote an article for the Russian publication Pravda about his father’s experience with Scientology, both from his days in the CIA to being Fair Gamed today.

On April 20, 2008 Boris posted a video which detailed some of his work in the C.I.A but primarily focused on his Scientologist Case Officer who was desperate to recruit him into Scientology.

Ironically enough, or maybe not so ironically, Korczak’s case officer was attempting to recruit Korczak during the same period of time that the Church of Scientology was being prosecuted for “Operation Snow White”, which was the largest infiltration of the U.S. Government to date.

Is it just coincidence that Korczak’s case officer just happened to be a Scientologist, in a very high position of power, at the same time that Scientology was infiltrating the Government in an attempt to destroy “negative” paperwork about the Church?

The cloud dood

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

So some guy made a timelapse video of clouds outside his apartment and released it online free of copyright for everyone to use.  An anonymous individual used this timelapse video in his/her “Message to Scientology” video back in January that kicked off the monthly protests that exist now until Scientology is gone.  Parodies resulted, one of them being a bad one from 236.com that uses the same cloud footage.

236, according to Google, is now claiming copyright ownership of the cloud video.

Sure enough, Arianna Huffington’s comedy news site 236.com had posted a derivative parody to YouTube: “A Message to Rudy Giuliani,” which amusingly deviates somewhat from the standard “Message from Anonymous” pattern by pausing part way through while Anonymous fends off his mom. There’s the standard synthesized speech, the standard message from Anonymous, and of course, my cloud timelapse video — which now, I gather from the phrasing of the Googly copyright notice email, 236.com is now claiming to have copyright on.

Guardian discusses London’s Illegal Word

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

The word “cult” is banned in the city of London, and The Guardian reports that London cops are cozy with the Scientologists and civil rights activists are frothing mad.

Officers confiscated a placard with the word “cult” on it from the youth, who is under 18, and a case file has been sent to the Crown Prosecution Service….

The teenager refused to back down quoting a 1984 high court ruling from Mr Justice Latey, in which he described the Church of Scientology as a “cult” which was “corrupt, sinister and dangerous”.

After the exchange, a policewoman handed him a court summons and removed his sign….

The City of London Police, who issued the summons, came under fire two years ago when it emerged that more than 20 officers, ranging from constable to chief superintendent, had accepted gifts worth thousands of pounds from the Church of Scientology.

City of London police chief superintendent, Kevin Hurley, praised Scientology for “raising the spiritual wealth of society” during the opening of its £23m headquarters near St Paul’s Cathedral in 2006….

The decision by City of London Police to issue the summons provoked anger from civil liberties campaigners and groups helping former cult members.

Liberty director, Shami Chakrabarti, said: “This barmy prosecution makes a mockery of Britain’s free speech traditions.

“After criminalising the use of the word ‘cult’, perhaps the next step is to ban the words ‘war’ and ‘tax’ from peaceful demonstrations?”

EDIT: This is currently the top story in all topics on digg. And it’s on Gawker. Entheta press ahoy!

EDIT 2: The Register.

What’s it like being the webmaster of Xenu.net?  You have to deal with email such as this:

Why do you waste your time on this site full of lies? You have no proof and never will about how great it is. Scientology helps people, you people only help us by giving us more good press. Our rate is going up daily with more members and will proceed to do that. Maybe you can focus your “Free Time” on maybe improving your body? …just a guess. I hope cancer will soon infest into your body and hopefully finally you will be erased.

New Fair Game

A new Fair Game tactic has been observed, and this video explains it.
